Dola June Ross (Seymour)'s Obituary
Dola June Ross, daughter of George and Virginia McClanahan Blankenship, was born June 11, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, May 24, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, eleven months, and thirteen days.
On February 24, 1950, Dola was united in marriage to Herb Ross, and together they shared fifty-five years until his passing on October 14, 2005.
Dola was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Sid Ross; a granddaughter, Rhonda Lovelace; and a brother, Bob Blankenship.
She is survived by her children, Tommy Ross and wife Sharon, of Forsyth, Missouri, Danny Ross and wife Sharon, of Sacramento, California, Arnie Ross and wife Cathy, of Rogersville, Missouri, and Rex Ross and wife Goldia, of Kimberling City, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Blankenship and wife Linda, of St. Joseph, Missouri; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dola was born in St. Joseph and spent her younger years there. Following her marriage to Herb, they moved to California, living there for over twenty years until moving to Missouri to make their home. Dola owned and operated the Duck Pond Antique shop for many years. She was also a member of the PWT club for many years.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Diggins, Missouri.
In her spare time, Dola enjoyed playing the organ, reading, as well as collecting antiques, and butter molds.
Dola was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
