Dolores Mae Swigert (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Dolores Mae Swigert passed away on April 20, 2023, at Citizens Memorial Healthcare Facility. Dolores was born on May 25, 1933, in Joplin, Missouri as an only child to Virginia Brown. Dolores attended school in Cedar County, Mo at Bethel and Wagoner Schools, which were both one room schoolhouses.
When she was 15 years old, she married James Fleeman and together they had four children, JR, Gene, Kenneth and Sharon. They spent several years working on their farm together.
Dolores also enjoyed selling different kinds of products, like Beeline Clothing, Sarah Coventry jewelry and working outside of the home, usually as a cook or caring for an elderly person. She loved to fish, and she especially loved to dance. Dolores was also a good seamstress and enjoyed making clothing for her family, along with being very creative, in general.
After the passing of James, Dolores sold the farm and moved to Bolivar. She started going to the Senior Center and it was there that she met Willard Swigert. They spent many days playing the card game, Pitch, but mostly they shared a love of country music and going to dances. On May 9, 1997, they went to Las Vegas! A limo picked them up from their hotel and took them to the Chapel, where they were married, and then lived happily ever after for almost 25 years! Dolores was happy and content until the day she passed, spending the past five years at CMHCF with Willard. They spent many of their days playing BINGO and visiting with others. Dolores was even in a pageant while there which was a wonderful experience, getting pampered.
Dolores is survived by her husband Willard, her four children, seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank CMHCF for their wonderful care and support over the past five years.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Lindley Prairie Cemetery.
Services are under the care and direction of Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar.
