Don Freeman's Obituary
Don E. Freeman Don E. Freeman, 79, Mansfield MO went to be with his Lord on Feb 21, 2012. Don, the son of Wm. and Emma Freeman, was born Oct 1932 near Vanzant, MO. In April 1951 he married the love of his life, Kattie. Their marriage was blessed by two children. For decades Don owned the Victory Oil Co., served on the Wright County Health Dept Board, and was an active member of the Church of the Nazarene. Don was well-known for his skill and dedication as a horseman who owned, trained, and showed many prize winning Missouri Fox Trotters from the mid-1960s through the summer of 2011. He was a charter member of the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association and served that association in multiple capacities throughout much of the past 50 years. He was instrumental in establishing the permanent home of the World Championships for the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed in Ava, MO.
Don is survived by his wife Kattie, son DJ Freeman (wife Sara) and grandchildren Aaron and Breanne Freeman of Springfield MO, and daughter Diana Trapp (husband Alan) of DeBary FL. He is also survived by brothers, Lloyd and Leonard Freeman, and sisters, Omma Luallen, Nancy Tetrick, and Mary Collins, all of Mtn. Grove MO. The memorial service is scheduled for 10 am Saturday, Feb 25 at the Holman Howe Funeral Home in Mansfield with burial at the Mansfield Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to the Missouri Fox Trotting Horse Breed Association, PO Box 1027, Ava, MO 65608.
