Don O. Lillard (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Don Olan Lillard, son of Daniel and Lottie Jane Rogers Lillard, was born January 5, 1935, near Brownfield, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, October 18, 2013, in his home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, nine months, and thirteen days.
On May 22, 1951, he was united in marriage to Zedith Rae Tweed, and they shared the last sixty-two years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Lillard; four brothers, Truman, Farrell, Otis, and Joe; and four sisters, Edith, Myrtle, Agnes, and Ann.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Zedith of the home; five daughters, Donna Drew, and her husband, Jim, Vicky Winegar, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Becky Williams, and her husband, Joe, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Susan Nichols, and Katy Lillard, both of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Stephen Lillard, and Eric Whitehead, both of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Catherine Jones, Candi Drew, and Lane Williams; seven great-grandchildren, Shayla, April, Gabriel, Salem, Damien, Memphis, and Mason; a brother, Lowell Lillard, and his wife, Dawn, of Alexandria, Indiana; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Brownfield and Crossroads area, in Laclede County, Missouri. After he and Zedith were married, they made their home in Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. Don worked as a woods craftsman for many years, and created various items for the Walnut Bowl Store at the Independent Stave Company in Lebanon. He had an artistic flair for creating interesting wood pieces as well as functional items.
Don had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Freewill Baptist faith throughout his life. He was always willing to help anyone in need.
He loved music and played the fiddle. He also enjoyed fishing, playing Bingo, feeding the raccoons, and collecting things. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
