Don Lee Mizer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Don Lee Mizer, son of Herb and Addie Henson Mizer, was born December 16, 1933, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, April 10, 2018, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, three months, and twenty-five days.
On August 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Lundy Carol Tyre, and they shared the last forty-eight years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gordon Mizer and Floyd Mizer; and a sister, Bernita Mizer.
Don is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; a son, Shawn Lee Mizer, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Springfield, Missouri; a daughter, Mariel Donita McCarver, and her significant other, Norm Hackett, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifton Mizer, of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Mary Lou Johnson, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area and attended Blackfoot School. He worked at the Lebanon Greenhouse for a few years, and then was employed by the H. D. Lee Company for a number of years. After he and Carol were married, they made their home in the Lebanon and Phillipsburg area for several years. He and Carol had made their home in Springfield since Don retired.
Don had attended the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church near Long Lane, Missouri.
He enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was fishing. He was a quiet man who was an extremely loyal person. His family was very important to him and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-four years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation, and left at the funeral home.
