On August 8, 1964, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Lou Pierce, and to this union one daughter and four sons were born.
His parents preceded him in death.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Bonnie, of the home; a daughter, Suzanne Cherry Mai, of Lebanon, Missouri; four sons, Donald Cherry, and his wife, Denise, of Morrisdale, Pennsylvania, David Cherry, and his wife, Janet, of Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania, Brian Cherry, and his wife, Traci, of Weatherly, Pennsylvania, and Matthew Cherry, and his wife, Jolena, of Morrisdale, Pennsylvania; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale Cherry and Dwayne Cherry, both of Tipton, Pennsylvania; four sisters, Patty Henrichs, of the State of Minnesota, Donna Hagen, of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, Joan Scultz, of the State of Texas, and Betty Marie McConnell, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated from high school in Bellwood, Pennsylvania. He was a legend in the football program in high school and received several football scholarship offers to colleges. He decided to become a family man instead of going to college and soon he and Bonnie were married. They made their home in Pennsylvania and lovingly raised their children. Bill began driving an 18 wheel truck and eventually owned his own transport business. In 2015, Bill and Bonnie moved to Lebanon, Missouri, to enjoy their retirement years.
Bill had made his profession of faith in Christ and was saved, and was a firm believer in God.
In his spare time he greatly enjoyed gardening and being with his family. He could always make people smile and laugh. He was multi-talented and was good at everything he did. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his seventy-one years.
Services will be in Pennsylvania at a later date with local arrangements under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
