Donald Neal Brooke, son of Jesse James Brooke and Nellie Mae (Cassida) Brooke, was born on March 28, 1931, in Mansfield (Prairie Hollow), Missouri. Don went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at the age of eighty-three years, ten months and nineteen days.
Don’s family moved to California when he was a teenager, where he met and fell in love with his lifelong companion, Billie. Don and Billie were married July 15, 1950. Don was a man who wore many hats. He had his own plumbing business, “Don’s Plumbing,” for many years in California, and also built several homes. After moving back to Missouri, he loved being in his workshop making furniture for whoever asked. All of the beautiful trim in the Mansfield First Assembly of God Church and the three crosses above the baptistery are all works of Don’s talent. Don was a quiet man with a gentle soul who had a strong passion for Jesus and a deep love for his family. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by brothers, Orden, Jim and Dale Brooke; and sisters, Bonnie Smith and Betty Woodburn. Don is survived by his wife, Billie, of the home; son, Mike Brooke of Republic; son, Brad Brooke and wife, Janet of Mansfield; daughter, Robin Calhoun and husband, Don of Mansfield; and daughter, Amy Brooke-Bellevue of the State of Washington; grandchildren, Kristen Quick and husband, Joe; Adam Brooke and wife, Tessa; Stephanie Lansdown and husband, Darron; Erin Greene and husband, Gary; Cara Erickson; Nick Brooke and wife, Sydni; and Jason Brooke and wife, Janisha; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lydia, Spencer, Sydnee, Sadee, Karsyn, Chloe, Avery, Taylor, Kadyn, Addie and Delia.
