We got to know Don through Jimmy and Don's mutual interest in electronics. As it turned out, they had a mutual interes in the Cardinal baseball team as well. We all enjoyed his story telling, but for me, JIm, it was his love and appreaciation of his wife that impressed me the most. After a trip to the VA hospital and listening to him talk about his wife the way he did it made me take a new look at my wife and have a deeper love and appreaciation for her. Thanks Don. We will miss playing back the answering machine and hearing the military voice say, "Jimmy, Don, call me. I got to know Don while driving him to VA doctor appointments In Columbia. He is one of our WW2 heroes, and had many amusing and serious stories to tell.
