Donald E. Wallace's Obituary
Donald E. Wallace, son of Albert and Mary Kern Wallace, was born, March 29, 1926 in Waterloo, Iowa. He passed away, October 30, 2006 in Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach, Missouri at the age of eighty years, seven months and one day. On December 22, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa, he was united in marriage to LaVonne “Bonnie” Nemmers. They renewed their marriage vows on September 18, 1950 at St. Patrick’s Rectory in Cedar Falls, Iowa and to this union, four children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Clifford Wallace and his wife Virginia; a half-brother, Frank Wallace; a half-sister, Virginia Kern; a sister-in-law, Geneva Wallace; and a brother-in-law, Elmer Bartling. Don is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Bonnie, of the home; a son, Gary Wallace and his wife, Diane, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; three daughters, Candi Smith and her husband, Larry, of Voorhies, Iowa, Diana Sutherland and her husband, Dan, of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, and Judy Albright and her husband, Floyd, of Janesville, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Jesse Luck-Smith and his wife, Ly, of Olathe, Kansas, Dana Cheese and her husband, David, of St. Charles, Missouri, Dustin Sutherland of Eldon, Missouri, Sheli McBride of Voorhies, Iowa, Ryan, Rachelle and Renee Wallace all of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Jason Grandon of Janesville, Iowa; six great-grandchildren, JJ and Noah Luck-Smith, Joel and Zack Davis, and Carson and Kierstyn Cheese; a brother, Virgil Wallace of Waterloo, Iowa; a sister, Dolores Bartling of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends. Don attended country schools in Black Hawk County and Janesville School. He worked for twenty years at Rasmussen Chevrolet in Cedar Falls, Iowa, as a service manager and at Burdette Buick and Mark Gill Buick in Waterloo, Iowa, before retiring in 1990. He and LaVonne moved to Camdenton, Missouri, in August of 1997. He enjoyed living at the Lake of the Ozarks, fishing and taking rides in his pontoon boat. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and most recently a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Camdenton, Missouri. Don will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for those that knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006, in St. Patrick's Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 - 7:00 p.m. in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. A second visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 - 8:00 p.m. in Richardson Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, Iowa. Memorials to St. Anthony Catholic Church or the American Heart Association may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
