Donald Fintel (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Donald James Fintel, 81, Lebanon, MO, formerly of the Waterloo and Cedar Falls, Iowa area, passed away May 31, 2018, in Springfield, MO.
He was born December 17, 1936, to George Frederick and Lola B. Smith Scroggins Fintel in Garrison, Iowa.
On October 26, 1957, in Rochester, Minnesota, he was united in marriage to Sally Jo Stern, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
He worked for John Deere Engineering Center – Dept. 036 in Waterloo, Iowa for 30 years retiring on July 20, 1990. He also owned and operated Don’s Auto Body Repair from 1960 – 1979. Later he moved to Missouri and enjoyed his retirement years.
Donald is survived by a daughter, Kim Wetzel, and her husband, Art, of Waterloo, Iowa; two sons, Doug Fintel, and his wife, Annie, and Greg Fintel, and his wife, Joyce "Dolly" all of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Pam Fintel, of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sally, on September 4, 1980; a son, Jim Fintel; four brothers, Thomas E. Fintel, William G. Fintel, Albert L. Scroggins, and Richard E. Scroggins; and three sisters, Eva M. Jelinek, Marjorie M. Adams, and Evelyn L. Goettsch.
Graveside service and burial will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton, Iowa under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Visitation will be 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton, Iowa.
