Donald Fowler's Obituary
Donald Lee Fowler, age 77, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Monday evening, March 29, 2010 at Citizen’s Memorial Healthcare Facility in Bolivar, Missouri. He was born October 31, 1932 in Humansville, Missouri to Frank Fowler and Nola (Johnson) Fowler. He spent his childhood years in Humansville along with his six brothers. On July 5, 1952 he married Alice Marie Gent in Berryville, Arkansas. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. After his military service, he joined Alice and they moved to Fairway, Kansas and started their family that grew to seven children. Donald managed a full service Parking Lot Facility in Kansas City, Missouri for 25 years, then moved to Springdale and Siloam Springs, Arkansas before moving to Bolivar in 1985. He then worked as a Truck Driver for Bolivar Milling Company for 10 years prior to his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Armour Heights Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Don was most comfortable being outdoors. He enjoyed large open areas and fresh air. He loved taking long walks, and fishing at the creek near his farm in Bolivar. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Nola Fowler, two sons, Tim Fowler, Darrel Fowler, three brothers, Carl Fowler, Jack Fowler and Bob Fowler. Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Marie Fowler of the home, two daughters, Joyce Ann Howell of Bolivar, Missouri, Joan Diane Cullnan of Buffalo, Missouri, three sons, Ronald Fowler of Overland Park, Kansas, Gary Fowler of Bolivar, Missouri, Terry Fowler of Merriam, Kansas, three brothers, Willard Fowler of Bolivar, Missouri, Rex Fowler of Bolivar, Missouri, Ted Fowler of Springdale, Arkansas, and 11 grandchildren, John, Jason, Jordon, Joey, Timmy & Matthew Fowler, Christopher Cullnan, Courtney Watterson, Shelby Fowler, Alicia & Ashley Howell. Don’s daughter and son-in-law’s include Jody Fowler of Liberty, Missouri, Paula Fowler of Olathe, Kansas, Thelma Fowler of Merriam, Kansas, Pat Cullnan of Buffalo, Missouri and Brent Howell of Bolivar, Missouri. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am, Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Chaplain James O. Friend officiating. Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” being sung by Marcia Ankrom with her husband Greg Ankrom playing the piano. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Military Honors and Pallbearers will be provided by the Fifth District Honor Guard of the American Veterans AMVETS Post #114 of Flemington, Missouri. A visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday evening at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
