Donald E. Ivey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Donald E. Ivey, son of Asa Jake and Mabel Irene McFall Ivey, was born April 1, 1927, near Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, January 2, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, nine months, and one day.
On May 25, 1980, he was united in marriage to Shirley K. Caffey and they shared the last thirty-nine years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Betty Ann Ivey; and a brother, Jessie Warren Ivey.
Donald is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; three daughters, Janie Blattel, and her husband, Billy, Donna Gladden, and her husband, Pat, and Teresa Jackson, and her husband, Mark, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Donald Ivey, Jr., of Lebanon, Missouri; a step-daughter, Donna Crowder, of Lebanon, Missouri; a step-son, David McGuire, and his wife, Sandy, of Morgan, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon area, and then entered the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Philippines. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to Lebanon where he worked as a civil service employee doing boiler maintenance at Fort Leonard Wood for twenty-five years.
Donald had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church. He had read his Bible numerous times.
He was a talented artist that enjoyed drawing and making pottery. He also liked making fishing ties and going fishing in his spare time. He enjoyed traveling and had taken many vacations and camping trips. He had a good perspective of the world and current events. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories he made for them and will miss him greatly.
