Donald Lou Spainhower (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Donald (Lou) Spainhower age 78, of Bolivar, MO, passed away March 2, 2011 in his sleep at his home. He was born December 13, 1932 in Oklahoma to Donald and Gladys (Edwards) Spainhower.
Lou graduated with a pharmacy degree from Southwestern State in Weatherford, OK. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Colflict.
He had Lou’s Good Drug in Bolivar for 18 years, served as the Chief of Pharmacy at Marshall, MO where he retired. After his retirement he filled in as a relief pharmacist at local pharmacies. He had received a special recognition for his service as a pharmacist for 50 years from both Oklahoma and Missouri.
He was a member of the Bolivar United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post and Sons of the American Legion in Bolivar, the Masonic Lodge of Bolivar, Abou Ben Adhem Shine, Stockton Shrine Club and the Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife Doris of Bolivar, his only child Paula Graves and her husband Lon of Morrisville, Mo. Granddaughters Amy Hoorn and husband Desmond of Clarksville, TN, Sarah Hook and husband Josh of Morrisville, Megan Miller of Salisbury, MO and her significant other Jason Morrison, and Buffy Knott and husband Kyle of Springfield, MO. Three great grandsons whom he dearly loved, Ezekiel Hoorn, Dawson and Carson Hook.
Lou was a free spirit and loved life to it’s fullest. He was giving and loving and had many friends and acquaintances.
