Donald McGuire (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Donald McGuire, son of Delmar W. and Annie Elizabeth Jennings McGuire, was born November 26, 1944, near Eldridge, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, July 4, 2018, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-three years, seven months, and eight days.
On July 29, 1988, he was united in marriage to Linda Marie Huntington Colbert, and they shared the last thirty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Judy McGuire; a step-daughter, Julie Marie Colbert; and a sister, Cloveta Johnson.
Donald is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; three daughter, Kelly Cornett, and her husband, James, of Eldon, Missouri, Connie Spigno, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jennifer Thompson, and her husband, Kyle, of Louisburg, Kansas; a son, Donald Richard McGuire, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale McGuire, and his wife, Pam, and Wayne McGuire, and his wife, Anita, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a sister, Jessica West, and her husband, Monty, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Eldridge community, and then made his home in Kansas City, Missouri, for many years. He and Judy lovingly raised their family in the Kansas City, Missouri area. He worked installing fence and was also a building contractor. After he and Linda were married, they continued to live in Kansas City until 2007, when they moved back to the Lebanon area to help take care of Donald’s mother. After returning to Lebanon, Donald drove a dump truck for several years.
Donald made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and was a member of Mount Horeb Church near Decaturville.
He loved music, particularly country and gospel music, and enjoyed playing the guitar. He liked motorcycles and enjoyed riding his motorcycle as often as he could. He was kind of a “fix-it” man and liked working on vehicles. He also enjoyed horseback riding, spending time in the hot tub, watching television and cooking on the grill. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed being around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his seventy-three years.
A memorial has been established and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
