Donald R. Baker (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Donald Ray Baker, son of Webster Clarence and Mary Jane Hendrickson Baker, was born August 27, 1934, in Ursa, Illinois. He departed this life Monday, October 4, 2010, in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri, at the age of seventy-six years, one month and seven days.
On July 3, 1966, in Clayton, Illinois, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Frances Aden; and to this union three sons were born. Together they shared the past forty-four years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Ben, Glenn, Walter and William.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Baker, of the home; three sons, John Baker and his wife, Susan, of Osage Beach, Missouri, Phillip Baker and his wife, Christal, of Linn Creek, Missouri, and Danny Baker and his wife, Jamie, of Hannibal, Missouri; nine grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Don was raised in the Ursa, Illinois area and attended school in Menden, Illinois. He met his wife in Quincy, Illinois, and they lived most of their adult lives there. They retired to Durham, Missouri, for a time before moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2003. He studied blacksmithing and welding and retired from Comstock Castle after many years of service.
He made a profession of faith and was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Quincy.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially enjoyed hunting deer and turkey, and crappie fishing.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
