Donald Ray Davis' Obituary
Donald Ray Davis, son of Ray M. and Bernice Bower Davis, was born April 12, 1929, in Fontanelle, Iowa. He departed this life Sunday, March 25, 2007, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, eleven months, and thirteen days. On March 3, 1954, he was united in marriage to Virgie Marie Smith, and together they shared thirty-eight years, before her passing on December 24, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gerald and Gale Eugene Davis. Donald is survived by a son, Leroy Davis, of the State of California; a grandson, Jason Rose; a number of stepchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends, including two special friends, Joanne Gillis, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Chrystine McClanahan, of Phillipsburg, Missouri. He was born and raised in Iowa, and then entered the military as a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army for a number of years before retiring as a Staff Sergeant on October 1, 1967. He was stationed in Germany and was part of the European Theater during World War II. After retiring, he and Virgie moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and made their home. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 4107 of Lebanon, and was a very patriotic person. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with his friends. He was a very concerned person who put others ahead of himself and was always willing to help someone in need. Donald will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
