Donald Wayne Massey, son of Orvel and Florence Berry Massey, was born January 17, 1948, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, July 21, 2006, in Norwood, Missouri, at the age of fifty-eight years, six months, and four days. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Norma; a sister, Bonnie Reeves; and two brothers, Curtis and Charles Massey. Don is survived by two daughters and one son, Rebecca Massey Webb, of Eldon, Missouri, Donna Massey Lucas, of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Ronald Massey, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tony, Devon, Eryn, Kilea, and Kiya; a step-granddaughter, Alisha Webb; a step-great-grandson, Aaron Lamont Robertson; three brothers, Jr. Massey, of Lebanon, Missouri, Chester Massey, and his wife, Rose, of Florence, South Carolina, and Marion Massey, of Farmington, Missouri; five sisters, Flory Putman, of Hartville, Missouri, Alma Detherage, and her husband, George, of Lebanon, Missouri, Nola Porter, and her husband, Bill, of Charleston, Tennessee, Marilyn McCallister, and her husband, Gary, of Springfield, Missouri, and Ruth Porter, and her husband, Dave, of Lebanon, Missouri; a very close and special friend, Jan Rector, and her children, Sasha, Sheena, Cierra, Chris, Reed, and Tameka; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Don was raised in the Lebanon area and attended the Cook and Lebanon High School through the tenth grade. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army, during the Vietnam War, where he was honored with a Purple Heart and other medals. Later, he reenlisted serving time in Germany. Throughout the years he pastored numerous churches in Missouri and also drove a bus for Lebanon R-III Schools for sixteen years. As a favorite past time Don enjoyed writing and singing songs, writing poems about his family and friends, and loved playing the mandolin. He also enjoyed spending time camping and having cookouts with story telling and singing around the fire. Don was a loving family man who will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in White Oak Pond Cemetery, near Lebanon. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri. A memorial has been established to Community Hospice of Mountain Grove and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
