Donna Sue Ichord (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Donna Sue (Knuckles) Ichord was born on December 28, 1952, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, to George and Dorthy (Crabtree) Knuckles. She passed away peacefully in Springfield, Missouri, on July 14, 2025. Donna spent her early years in Chapman, Kansas, where she formed many lifelong friendships. After graduating, she moved with her parents to Houston, Missouri, and began working at Fort Leonard Wood. As a military spouse, Donna led a life full of adventure and discovery. Her journey took her from hiking the lush landscapes of Panama to exploring the historic cities of Italy, to glass bottom boats in Spain while stationed abroad. She had an unforgettable sweet nature and contagious laugh - often punctuated with a knee slap - and a warm, loving smile that made everyone feel at home. Donna had a deep love of music, which was a constant companion throughout her life. Whether humming along to her favorite tunes, dancing in the kitchen, or filling her home with the sounds of old records, music brought her joy and comfort and became part of her family’s shared memories. She was also a gifted and passionate crafter - her creativity knew no bounds. From knitting and crochet to cross-stitching, her hands were always busy creating something beautiful. Donna had a green thumb as well and took great pride in her garden, often sharing photos of her tomatoes and cucumbers with friends and family. Above all, Donna was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother to three children: Jennifer (Steve) Holden, Ernest "Ernie" (Sonja) Johnson, and Angelica (Austin) Hendrix. Her children were the center of her world, and she loved them fiercely. Through her son Ernie, Donna was blessed with three grandchildren - Audrey (Ryan) Relitz, Meagan Johnson, and Nora Johnson - who brought her immense pride and joy. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Ryker and Avery, who added even more love and laughter to her life. She is proceeded in death by her mother Dorthy Knuckles, brother Gary Knuckles and son Ernest “Ernie” Johnson. Donna’s legacy of adventure, love, laughter, music, and creativity lives on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 am on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home.
