Dora (Kay) Miller (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Dora Kaula (Simpson) Miller, 92, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2025.
Kay or Dora Kay as she was also affectionately known, was born on February 20, 1933 in Polk County, Missouri to Walter A. and Stella M. (Ahart) Simpson.
Kay was saved at an early age. Church was an important part of her life. She was a faithful member of Durnell Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She made many good friends through the church over the years and loved her church family.
On January 21, 1961, Kay was united in marriage to Allen Wayne Miller. To this union, she brought her son by a previous marriage, Donnie Needham. Wayne brought a daughter, Allene (Miller) Martin. Together, they spent many happy years, raising their children, attending church, building a house and working together to provide a loving Christian home.
Kay’s favorite pastimes were Dominos, Wheel of Fortune, going with Wayne to craft shows and garage sales, picking greens and wild morel mushrooms. But spending time with her family was her very favorite!
She was a hard worker, a loyal wife, a loving mother, grandmother, a faithful servant to the Lord and will be missed by all.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 47 years, Wayne Miller, and 16 of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her two brothers, Bobby Simpson, and Romie Simpson. Her son: Donnie (Melinda)Needham, stepdaughter, Allene Martin, and an honorary son, Leonard (Diana) Miller.
Seven grandchildren/step-grandchildren: Mendel (Sonny) Needham, Regina (Ginny) Stettnisch and husband Chris, Donald Wayne (Donny) Needham and his partner for life, Lindy Heisten, Jared and Hailey Needham, and Stephanie and Bob Admire. Brian Martin, Melissa (Devane)Thomas.
Nine great-grandchildren: Taylor Hicks, Kyle, Needham, Zachary Needham; Lauren (Stettnisch) Barrett and husband, Jackson, Molly Stettnisch, Joel Stettnisch; Maverick Needham; Crystal Farrar; Gabriel Elliott-Thomas and Daisy Thomas. Five great-great-grandchildren: Faith and Grace Farrar, Addison, Trendyn and Remington Hicks.
Visitation and funeral services will be at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar Missouri on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 AM with the funeral service following at 11 AM with Brother Michael Henderson officiating. Internment will be at Payne Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mendel Needham, Donald Wayne Needham, Jared Needham, Bob Admire, Chris Stettnisch and Joel Stettnisch.
