Dora "Lethie" Pankey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dora Arletha “Lethie” Pankey, daughter of Sherman and Lottie Mae Tennison Jennings, was born September 2, 1934, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She departed this life Saturday, August 4, 2012, in her home, near Eldridge, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, eleven months, and two days.
On December 13, 1961, she was united in marriage to William Andrew Pankey, and they shared the last fifty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Louie Jennings; and three sisters, Louise Killian, Maybell Franks, and Martha Jennings.
Dora is survived by her husband, William, of the home; a son, William Boyles, of Eldridge, Missouri; five daughters, Brenda Hufford, Deborah Lense, Phyllis Knapp, Darlene Wilson, and her husband, Kenneth, all of Eldridge, Missouri, and Martha Bishop, and her husband, Johnny, of Liberty, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; five brothers, John Jennings, and his wife, Joann, of Dove, Missouri, Willie Jennings, and his wife, Teresa, of Nixa, Missouri, Bill Jennings, of Lebanon, Missouri, Sherman Jennings, of Moline, Illinois, and Louis Jennings, and his wife, Sherry, of Willard, Missouri; four sisters, Goldie Scott, and her husband, Roland, Betty Chancellor, and her husband, Bob, Evelyn Dimock, and her husband, Greg, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Myrtle Warner, and her husband, Harold, of Paragould, Arkansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and then moved to the boot heal area of Missouri, where she graduated from high school. She lived in various locations for several years, before she and William decided to make their home in the Eldridge community, and lovingly finished raising their children. Throughout the years, Dora was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family.
Dora had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Harvest Tabernacle-United Pentecostal Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, cooking, and gardening. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed raising her own children and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them through the years.
