Doris Cogdill's Obituary
Doris Cecelia Cogdill, daughter of Linzie Roscoe and Elsie Mae Hake O’Dell, was born April 11, 1914, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, February 6, 2006, in her home, at Hartville, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, nine months, and twenty-five days. On June 1, 1935 she was united in marriage to Owen Cogdill, and to this union one daughter and six sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Owen, on July 9, 1993; and two sisters Eloise Russell, and Golda Blackwell. Doris is survived by a son Kevin Cogdill, of the home; a daughter, Judy Arnall, and her husband, Ike, of Hartville, Missouri; sons, Garnall Cogdill, and his wife, Lucille, of Strafford, Missouri, Karmon Cogdill, and his wife, Sammye, of Lebanon, Missouri, Knial Cogdill, and his wife, Jane, of Springfield, Missouri, Faron Cogdill, and his wife, June Ann, of Rogersville, Missouri, and Klaron Cogdill, and his wife, Joann, of Hartville, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren, Patricia Ivy, and her husband, Randy, Jackie Arnall, and his wife, Evelyn, Jody Arnall, and his wife Lana, Linzie Arnall, Kala Arnall Melton, and her friend, Eddie, Laron Arnall, and his friend, Amy, Stacey Cogdill, and his wife, Nina, Annisa Morton, and her husband, Darryl, Marshall Cogdill, and his wife, Bethany, Dax Cogdill, and his wife, Amy, Chantz Cravens, and her husband, Garrett, Brian Cogdill, and his wife Julie, Brad Cogdill, and his wife, Kim, Kelli Presley, and her husband, Eric, Christy Crowe, and her husband, Stuart, Cindy Crowe, and her husband, Bryan, Faron Tyler Cogdill, Aquelia, Jaron, and Jaden Cogdill, Aaron Cogdill, and his wife, Amber, and Justin Bonnarens, and his friend, Nicole; thirty-one great-grandchildren and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another great-grandson; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Virginia Latimer, and her husband, James, of Hartville, Missouri; a brother, Bobby O’Dell, and his wife, Donna, of Hartville, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Wilda Cogdill, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Hartville area and graduated from Hartville High School in the Class of 1933. After she and Owen married they made their home on the farm, and lovingly raised their family. Many would say that she was Owen’s left and right hand. She was a devoted wife, and mother and provided a wonderful home and surroundings for family gatherings and holidays. Doris had made her profession of faith in Christ and had the longest membership of the First Baptist Church, in Hartville. She was also a member of Women’s Federated Club, Extension Club, and was a Homeroom mother for her children when they were in school. She centered her life around her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and loved gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was also very knowledgeable of Wright County History and loved to travel, she went to Mexico, Canada, and many other places of interest with her family. Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed and will forever live in our hearts. We will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2006, in the First Baptist Church of Hartville. Burial will be in Steele memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Hartville, Missouri.
