Doris was born and raised in the Morgan community and graduated from Lebanon High School in the class of '57. Following graduation, Doris worked as a Soda Jerk at the local drug store, and it was there she was introduced to her perfect match, best friend, and husband, Bill.
They were married December 2, 1961 and had recently celebrated sixty-four years of love and wonderful memories. She is preceded in death by her parents, Darris and Fern; two brothers, Bill and Doyle McCall; one brother-in-law, Doyle Eagon; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle DeVasure.
Doris is survived by her loving husband, Bill; four children, Phillip DeVasure and his significant other, Kelly McCulloch Farris; Pam Akers and her husband Rick, Paul DeVasure and his wife Lonita, and Patricia Sproat and her husband Randy, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kelsey Stanton and her husband Mike, Brandon Akers and his wife Alyssa, Aaron Akers, Logan DeVasure and his wife Teiah, Mason DeVasure and Ethan Sproat; eight great-grandchildren, James Stanton, Baby Stanton, Kysen Akers, Kesleigh Akers, Kolsen Akers, Dean DeVasure, Beau DeVasure and Lucy DeVasure; her sister, Shirley Eagon; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Jones and Ann McCall; and other relatives and friends.
Doris was a wonderful Christian woman and looked forward to spending eternity with her Heavenly Father. She accepted Jesus at an early age and was baptized in the river at Orla on a "chilly" day.
She had been a member at Antioch Baptist Church for many years and for the past several years, she had been a member at Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School and serving any way she could.
Doris will be remembered for her talent of being a wonderful seamstress. She made dresses for her daughters and did a beautiful job of quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and grew wonderful strawberries. She liked taking care of the yard and was a good cook and baker. She always had the cookie jar full and dinners for special occasions were always delicious and wonderful.
Every grandchild would tell you that they were her favorite. She loved reading "The Little Red Hen" that taught how everyone works their fair share. She would always remind them to treat each other the way they wanted to be treated. The Golden Rule that she modeled everyday.
Doris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, whose kindness and encouraging, supportive nature was rooted firmly in her Christian faith. Her trust in Christ and love for Jesus grew throughout her life and was the distinguishing characteristic recognized by all who knew her.
