Doris Guffey (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Doris Lorene Nunn Mead Guffey, 89 of Bolivar, MO passed away at her home in Bolivar on Monday, November 19, 2018.
Doris was born in Humansville, MO on March 3, 1929 to James and Zelva Nunn. She graduated from Fair Play High School. She was Married to Max Mead for forty years until his passing. The couple had two children, J.W. and Philip Mead. Doris later married F.A. Guffey and shared 18 years together in this union.
Strong in her faith, she was responsible for starting what is now known as the Heritage Baptist Church in her living room.
She was an amazing cook and enjoyed cooking for friends and family. An exceptional China painter, one of Doris plates is on display at the Smithsonian. She is also a member of the National China Painters Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Max Mead; son, J. W. Mead. She is survived by husband, F. A. Guffey; son, Philip Mead, grandson, Jason Mead; sister Glenda Bays; stepchildren; Vickie Gurney and her husband Ray, Don Guffey and his wife Brenda, and David Guffey and his wife Linn.
Services for Doris will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2018, with the visitation one hour prior at 10:00 a.m., at Butler Funeral Home, Bolivar, Missouri.
Burial will be at Barron Creek Cemetery, Bolivar, Missouri.
