Doris Mason Butler's Obituary
Doris Virlea Mason Butler, daughter of Martin Luther and Virginia Lee Estle Mason, was born June 6, 1920 in Marceline, Missouri. She departed this life, Sunday, October 8, 2006, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, four months, and two days. On August 21, 1965 she was united in marriage to Eddie G. McClung who preceded her in death on April 16, 1998. She later married Floyd E. Butler, and they have shared the last seven years together. Her parents and five sisters, Opal, Berniece, Corrine, Fannie, and Goldie, and three brothers, Kenneth, George, and Carl have also preceded her in death. Dee, as she was known to family and friends, is survived by her husband, Floyd, of the home; one daughter, Sherry Glascock, and her husband, Gary, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, two step-daughters, Veronica Meckem, and her husband, Mark, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Meridith McClung Boyer, and her husband, Dr. Hardin Boyer, of Williamsburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren; Douglas E. Scott, and his wife, Nancy, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Trey Boyer, and his wife, Vanessa, of Norman, Oklahoma, Shawn Boyer, of Richmond, Virginia, David Meckem, Adam Meckem, and Philip Meckem, and his wife, Laura, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Heather Boyer Moose, and her husband, Robert, of Richmond, Virginia; five great-grandchildren, Ryder Meckem, of Lebanon, Missouri, Derek Boyer and Briana Boyer, both of Norman, Oklahoma, Tim Scott, and his wife, Cari, of Archie, Missouri, and Nick Scott, of Hanahan, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Marceline, Missouri and was a graduate of the 1939 class of Marceline High School. After graduation, she was employed for eighteen years at the Walsworth Publishing Company in the layout and design department. After moving to the Osage Beach area, she was a receptionist for Dr. Whaley’s office and Lake Printing. Dee and Eddie later moved to Lebanon to make their home. In addition to working outside the home, she was a devoted homemaker to her family. Dee had made her profession of faith, and was a member of the White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, Dee enjoyed cooking and was a talented seamstress. She also loved antiques and especially antique desks. Dee was a very elegant lady and always created a warm, inviting home for her family. Dee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Entombment will be in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church may be made through the funeral home.
