On February 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Lowen Richardson, who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Loren Howerton, and an infant; and a sister, Loreta Tucker.
Doris is survived by a daughter, Anandi Amos, and her husband, Wallace, of Grovespring, Missouri; two grandsons, Walton and Dwayne Amos, both of Grovespring, Missouri; a stepdaughter, Lila Shoemaker, of Hutchinson, Kansas; three stepsons, Lester Terveen, and his wife, Jan, of Aurora, Missouri, Lewis Terveen, and his wife, Martha, of Highland, Illinois, and Lloyd Terveen, and his wife, Joyce, of Springfield, Missouri; several step-grandchildren; two brothers, Don Howerton, and his wife, Virginia, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Bob Howerton, of Buffalo, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Quin Douglas, of Fort Worth, Texas; several nieces and nephews; a special friend, Joe Tillery, who she met at the cancer center; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in the Conway, Missouri area, and graduated from Conway High School. After she and Lowen were married, they made their home on their dairy farm near Conway. Doris used to help with the operation of the farm and also was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband. When she and Eldon married, they made their home on the farm and lovingly raised their daughter. For the last five years, Doris had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law.
Doris made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church. Her faith and love of God were always at the center of her life.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing embroidery and reading poems at church. She liked to go shopping with Anandi, who was the light of her life. She had lots of spunk and determination and fought her illness to the very end. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spoiling her grandsons.
Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her eighty years.
