Dorlene Johnson's Obituary
Dorlene Reid Johnson, daughter of Ray and Gladys Piercy Reid, was born November 20, 1929, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, seven months, and ten days. On June 29, 1947, she was united in marriage to Carroll Wade “Babe” Johnson, and to this union two daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Babe, on September 26, 2000; and two daughters, Carol Ann Rooks and Mickey Rae Waldvogel. Dorlene is survived by a grandson, Matthew Cunningham, of Lebanon, Missouri; a great-grandson, Nicholas Cunningham, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She lived most of her life in the Lebanon, Missouri area. Being the daughter and wife of car dealers, Dorlene understood the lifestyle that comes with that business. Throughout the years, she was a devoted and hardworking homemaker to her husband and family. Dorlene was a member of St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting articles with a chicken theme, including plates, clocks, and dishes. She possessed a very kind and caring spirit and always put the needs of everyone else ahead of her own. She was generous to many causes and organizations and liked helping others. She loved her family dearly and greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandson and great-grandson. Dorlene was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, and cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday July 6, 2009 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation is 4-5:30pm on Sunday afternoon under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer society. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
