Dorlyn Mae Goodson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dorlyn Mae Goodson, daughter of Floyd E. and Ola Viola Sutton Carver, was born October 10, 1938, in Kampsville, Illinois. She departed this life Friday, May 15, 2020, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, six months, and twenty-six days.
On August 16, 1980, she was united in marriage to Melvin A. Goodson, and they shared thirty-two years before his passing on September 22, 2012.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Gean, Lawrence, Frank, Charlie and Henry; and a sister, Maryola.
Dorlyn is survived by a daughter, Marlene Hatfield, of Lebanon, Missouri; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, James Rousan, of Ellsinore, Missouri; a sister, Deloris Stouffer, of Little Rock, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Centerville, Missouri and then moved to the Long Lane, Missouri area, where she lived for many years. In addition to being a devoted homemaker, she worked as a nurse’s aide in various places and also did some private home care.
Dorlyn had attended the New Apostolic Church in Springfield and in Conway, Missouri.
She enjoyed being outdoors where fishing and camping were some of her favorite activities. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dorlyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her lifetime.
Dorlyn will have no local service, and will be buried in the Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home.
