Dorothy Wilma "Wig" Coffelt (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Dorothy Wilma “Wig” Coffelt passed away on February 17, 2021 in Centralia, MO. She was the last remaining sibling of her parent’s Clyde and Mary Guthrie. She grew up in Windyville, MO, joined the Baptist church and was baptized in Bennet Spring in 1946. She married in 1949 and had one son, Gary Loren Coffelt.
Wig earned a cosmetology license in Oklahoma and Missouri and worked for many years as a licensed beautician and owned her own beauty shop. Later she worked for the Medical Center of Independence and Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, MO.
Wig had many friends and loved having a good time. She enjoyed gardening and working in her yard and won the Neighborhood Beautification Award two consecutive years in a row in Independence, MO. She also enjoyed crocheting and created many afghans, scarves, and other handmade items that she sold or gave away to friends and family.
Wig’s favorite times were spent having laughs and sharing a few beers with her friends, of which she had many. She will be remembered as being witty, funny, and happy to help anyone she could. If you knew her, crack a Natty Light in remembrance; she has already cracked hers open on the other side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, her brothers, Don and Lonnie Guthrie, her sisters, Josie, Ferbie, Jewel and Francis. She is survived by daughter-in-law Charlene Coffelt of Centralia, MO, grandson Ryan Coffelt and wife Jenifer of Raymore, MO, granddaughter Stacy Brown and husband Gary Brown II of Centralia, MO, other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.
