Dorothy Frances Butterfield's Obituary
Dorothy Frances Butterfield, daughter of William H. and Pearl Elizabeth (Aldrich) Sargent, was born April 12, 1925, in Thedford, Vermont. She departed this life Wednesday, February 15, 2006, in her daughter’s home, in Macomb, Missouri, at the age of eighty years, ten months, and three days. On April 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Leslie Noble Butterfield, and to this union one son and three daughters were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Roy Goodwin; her husband, Leslie, on January 23, 1977; a son, Walter Roy Butterfield; and a brother, Fred Tatro. Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Pearl Raymond, and her husband, Bob, of Seymour, Missouri, Elaine Grasher, and her husband, Louis, of Macomb, Missouri, and Betty Lile, and her husband, Jim, of Seymour, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Jeanie Sue Beeler, JoAnn Lea Campbell, Valerie Rose Blankenship, Buddy Cornelison, Jason Len Cornelison, Michael Roy Butterfield, Mindi Sue Brake, Kelly Eugene Coffman, Lisa Lynnette Shaffer, Dawn Michelle Burt, Jennifer Kay Jensen, and James Lee Jensen; twenty-five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Richard Sargent, of Glover, Vermont, Clyde Goodwin, of Seymour, Missouri, and Roy Goodwin, of Lunenberg, Vermont; a sister, Roberta Baird, of Beckley, West Virginia; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Vermont and later moved to Missouri in 1953, where she spent the rest of her life in the Diggins Community. Besides being a devoted homemaker she also worked as a housekeeper, babysitter, and was a volunteer at Glenwood Healthcare, while her son was there. Dorothy had made her profession of faith in Christ and followed the Protestant faith. She centered her life around her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her much joy. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cooking, embroidering, gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to travel, one of her favorite things to do was watch wildlife. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
