Dorothy Mae Holcomb's Obituary
Dorothy Mae Holcomb, daughter of Charles Eli and Mary Bell (King) Davis, was born December 10, 1922, in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, August 28, 2007, in Glenwood Healthcare, in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, eight months, and eighteen days. On June 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to Dayle Holcomb and together they spent almost sixty-years before his passing on May 12, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandson, Tyler Scott Dudenhoeffer; a brother, Dwight Davis; two brothers-in-law, Dean Holcomb, and David Wells; and one sister-in-law, Wanda Holcomb. Dorothy is survived by a daughter, Shirley Schuder, and her husband, Larry, of Seymour, Missouri; two sons, Gary Holcomb, and his wife, Karron, and Charles Holcomb, and his wife, Lisa, all of Seymour, Missouri; five granddaughters, Gedenna Clark, Deirdre Bushong, and her husband, Tim, all of Seymour, Missouri, Traci Dudenhoeffer, and her husband, Craig, of Marshfield, Missouri, Michelle Wade, and her husband, Troy, of Licking, Missouri, and Natalie Holcomb, of Seymour, Missouri; six great-grandsons, Jared and Justin Clark, Devin and Denton Bushong, Zachary and Brett Dudenhoeffer; one great-granddaughter, Amber Clark; two great-great-grandsons, Ian and Cayden; a sister, Joetta Wells, of Sherman, Texas; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Holcomb, of Seymour, Missouri; three half-brothers, Glenn Holcomb, and his wife, Velda, of Seymour, Missouri, Evert Holcomb, and his wife, Rea, of Nashville, Tennessee, and Charles Holcomb, of Grove, Oklahoma; one half-sister, Martha Holcomb, of the State of California; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in Seymour, and following her marriage to Dayle they made their home on the farm, where they lovingly raised their family. Dorothy had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Burnett Sewing Club and the Seymour Homemakers Club. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, making beautiful quilts, and reading. She loved being a farmer’s wife and helping with all the farm chores, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Memorials to the Seymour Senior Care Center may be made through the funeral home.
