She was preceded in death by her father, Effiel Abbott; her mother, Stella Anderson; a stepson, Phillip Martley; and two brothers, Elvin and James Abbott.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Phillip, of the home; a daughter, Connie Reid, and her husband, Jack, of Lebanon, Missouri; two granddaughters, Tammie Bechtel, and her husband, Greg, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Sandie Weathers, and her husband, Steve, of Smithville, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Zachary, Ryne, Alexa, Abbie, and Austin; two sisters-in-law, Helen Martley, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Frankie Abbott, of Columbus, Ohio; three nieces; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Pulaski County, Missouri, and then moved to Phillipsburg, Missouri, where she attended high school. She began a thirty-two year career as a seamstress starting with the Alliance Company, then the Rice Stix Factory, and continuing with the H. D. Lee Company. After she and Phillip were married, Dorothy was a devoted homemaker and mother, and also traveled with her husband wherever his work took him.
Dorothy had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, traveling, and babysitting her grandchildren. She centered her life around her family and took great pleasure in fixing Sunday dinners for all the family.
Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
