Dorothy McDowell (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Dorothy Sue Barclay McDowell, 78 of Buffalo. Passed away on July 17, 2020 at her home. Dorothy was born in Lebanon Missouri on February 7, 1942 to Harley (Bus) Barclay and Ruby Duff Barclay. She was united in marriage to G.C. McDowell on December 16, 1958. Dorothy attended Tunas High School until she got married her junior year. She then graduated from Buffalo High School in 1967 after having her two daughters and got her diploma.
Dorothy spent most of her life managing convenience stores around Buffalo. She was known for her cooking abilities and giving her customers a “hard time”. Dorothy’s pastime was her four grandchildren with whom she spent all her free time.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother and father, Bus and Ruby Barclay, husband G.C. McDowell, her mother and father-in-law, Guern and Helen McDowell, her brother James Barclay and one great-grandchild Drakyn Stadler.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Pam and husband Henry Thiesen and Patty and husband Bob Whetsten. She is survived by four grandchildren, Trish Thiesen, Ashley Thiesen, Haley Thiesen and Kyle Whetsten. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren Bryce Frye, Xarra Wiggins, John Wiggins and Ka’Leah Thiesen; one aunt Eleanor Franklin and many cousins and friends who will miss her.
Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2020 in the Oaklawn Cemetery with Henry Thiesen officiating. Service are under the direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo, Missouri.
