Dorothy Meese (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Dorothy Ray Reynolds Meese, 85, passed away, Monday, November 13, 2017.
Dorothy was the daughter of Jerry “Ray” Reynolds and Zelda Lightfoot Reynolds. She was born on October 15, 1932 in Polk, Missouri.
She moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1948 where she resided until she retired in 1990 and moved to Bolivar. In 1953 she was married to William Allen Carpenter . To this union three children were born, Connie Rae Huff, Allen Dean Carpenter, and Carol Ellen Carpenter who preceded her in death.
In 1979 she married Elvin ”Gene” Meese.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Gene of the home, two children Connie Huff and husband Steve Cook of Springfield and Allen Carpenter and wife Janine of Van Alstyne, Texas, two step children Patricia Finnerty and Paul Meese of Kansas City. Three grandchildren, Chad Huff, Christa Hilliard, Chelsey Scoggins, four great grand children, Colin, Seth, Ian, and Carter, three step grandchildren, Mary, Julie, and Sarah, and five step great grandchildren, two brothers Jerry and wife Ann Reynolds, Neil and wife Donna Reynolds, one sister Willa Hood.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter Carol Ellen Carpenter, her parents Ray and Zelda Reynolds, and her sister Gwinneth Payne and brother in law Herman Payne.
Dorothy sought the Lord and was saved during a day service at Sentinel Missionary Baptist Church on her 10th birthday, October 15, 1942. She joined and was baptized that same year. She later joined and was a faithful member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri. She has now joins her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, at the Butler Funeral Home, in Bolivar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, on Friday, November 17, 2017, at the Butler Funeral Home, in Bolivar, with burial to follow at the Sentinel Cemetery, in Polk, Missouri
