Dorothy Miller's Obituary
Dorothy June Miller, 81, Bolivar, died at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at her home after a six-year battle with breast cancer. She was born March 29, 1928, in Ventura, California, the daughter of Riley Ralph Agee and Marie Buck. Dorothy was united in marriage to Bobby Linden Miller on March 29, 1951, and to this union three daughters were born. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Marie; her husband of 49 years, Bobby Miller, her parents, Ralph and Marie Agee; her brother, Eugene Agee; and her sister, Rowena Langston. She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Richard Johnson of Burlington, North Carolina and Teresa and Rick Lindsay of Bolivar; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Callie of Burlington, North Carolina; two step-grandsons, Todd Lindsay and his wife Sara, and Matt Lindsay and his wife Alma, both of Bolivar; and three step-great-grandchildren, Lauren, Colton and Payten Lindsay of Bolivar. Also surviving are three sister-in-laws, Wilda Jacobson of Bolivar; Melba Miller of Springfield, and Emma Jean Agee of Halfway; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy was saved as a young girl and testified many times about the sweet peace that God put in her heart. She possessed a quiet dedication and devotion to the church and at the time of her death was a member of Southside Missionary Baptist Church. Dorothy graduated from Bolivar High School in 1948 and began working at Southwest Regional Library in 1953 and retired from there in 1987. Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was her beloved family, especially being Mema to her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her patient and loving ways were a great source of strength to those who knew and loved her. Services will be held Friday, June 26, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bolivar, Missouri with Bro. Efton Piper and Bro. Gayland Lightfoot officiating. Music selections will be sung by Lisa and Brett Jarvis with Mary Childress as accompanist. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery southwest of Aldrich, Missouri under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar. Pallbearers will be Gerald Agee, Dale Agee, Vince Helton, Jim Bullis, Don Jacobson, Bill Miller, Dennis Miller and Steve Mutert.
