Dorothy Murdock's Obituary
Dorothy Wanetta Murdock, daughter of Roy LaVerne and Ola Belle Moss Havens, was born May 27, 1916 in Williams County, Ohio. She departed this life Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, at the age of ninety-one years, nine months and twenty-one days. On October 22, 1934, in Bryan, Ohio, she was united in marriage to Harold Elmer Murdock, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Harold Lee Murdock and Phillip Alan Murdock; a brother, Charlie Havens; and three sisters, Lucille Little, Donna Westfall and Delora Young. Dorothy is survived by her children, Carl Murdock, and his wife, Chris, of Ozark, Alabama, Martin Murdock, and his wife, Celia, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Anna Brubaker, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; ten grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim Havens, Lloyd Havens, and Jerry Havens; a sister, Reva Meyers; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Born in Ohio, where her childhood was spent, she met and married Harold while living in Montpelier, Ohio. They made their home in Ohio, Michigan, Arizona and California, before moving to the Grovespring area of Wright County in 1972. Living on the farm, she helped her husband with the daily chores as well as being a homemaker to her family. She had also been a teacher’s aid in earlier years. She centered her life around her family and was always ready to help with the rearing of her grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting, reading, tending to her garden and caring for animals, and baking. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit, we will always remember and share her stories. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She will be greatly missed and will forever live in our hearts. We treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, in the Steele Memorial Cemetery, Hartville, Missouri.
