Dorothy H. Scott (Seymour)'s Obituary
Dorothy Myrtle (Bruce) Scott, daughter of Charlie and Irene Bruce was born April 24, 1921 in Kiron, Iowa and departed this life on February 14, 2017 in Glenwood Health Care, Seymour, MO at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 21 days.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Herman H. Scott in March of 1948.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, her parents and her brother Melvin “Bud” Bruce.
Dorothy is survived by her special nephew and nieces, Harold and Joyce Scott of Seymour, MO and Carol Scott and the late Ronald Scott, of Springfield, MO. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Dorothy moved with her family to Seymour, MO in 1936 from Kiron, IA. She graduated from Seymour High School in 1939. During the late 40’s and 50’s she owned and managed the “Streetcar Café” in Seymour. Later, she and Herman moved to Wichita, KS where she worked for The 4th National Bank for many years, moving back to Seymour upon her retirement. She was a long-time member of the Seymour Methodist Church. Dorothy loved going out to eat, shopping and going to Branson to music shows, as long as her health permitted.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time on Friday. Memorial contributions may be left at the funeral home for Preferred Hospice.
