Dorothy Smith's Obituary
Dorothy Marie Hart Smith, daughter of Percy Virgil and Florence Lillian Tesson Hart, was born October 30, 1923, in Milbank, South Dakota. She departed this life Friday, January 13, 2005, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, two months, and thirteen days. On June 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Maxwell C. “Buster” Smith, and together they shared fifty-four years of marriage and fifty-eight years together. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maxwell, on September 6, 1998; a daughter, Beverlee Ann Smith; a son, Ralph Maxwell Smith; a grandson; a brother; a sister, Florence Krause; two half-brothers; and a half-sister. Dorothy is survived by a son, Lewis Smith, and his wife, Sandra, of Lebanon, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a half-sister, Mickey Walker, of Oxnard, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in South Dakota, and attended school in Clear Lake. She then moved with her family to Lebanon, Missouri in 1942, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1944. After she and Maxwell were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area and lovingly raised their children. Throughout the years, Dorothy was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Dorothy made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a longtime member of Southern Heights Christian Church in Lebanon. She was an excellent cook and liked making special dishes for her family. She also liked to sew in her spare time, and enjoyed having children around her. Dorothy will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the memories she created for all those that knew and loved her. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, january 16, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
