She was united in marriage to Darrell Huckaby and to this union one son, Mike was born. She later married Robert Wallace and they also had a son, David.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and son, Mike Huckaby.
Dorothy is survived by son, David Wallace of Seymour, Missouri and a granddaughter, Alexandra Wallace of Springfield, Missouri.
She was born and raised on the Dudley farm between Mansfield and Seymour and was a graduate of Mansfield High School in the Class of 1960. She was a teacher’s aide at Mansfield for several years while obtaining her Bachelor of Education degree in 1975, when she graduated Suma cum laude. She later received her Master’s Degree in Education in 1978. In December 1988, she graduated with her Specialist Degree in Education Administration. She was an aide, teacher and administrator at Mansfield Schools for 33 years before retiring in May of 2003. She continued to work part-time at the school the next two years.
Dorothy made a profession of faith in Christ at a young age and enjoyed reading the Bible. She attended Antioch Church in her younger years; and while raising her sons, they attended the Mansfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She enjoyed work on the farm but her life was centered around her sons and especially her granddaughter, Alexandra.
Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother, educator, and a caring neighbor and friend. She was a very generous person who made scores of contributions to charities in memory of so many people who had gone on before her. We celebrate her life and many accomplishments she made on her own while raising her family.
