Dortha Taylor's Obituary
Dortha Ilene Taylor, daughter of Parker Edward and Anna Martha Follmer Davis, was born January 19, 1920, in Strahan Mills, Iowa. She departed this life Thursday, January 5, 2006, in the Springfield Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eleven months, and sixteen days. On April 2, 1994, she was united in marriage to Wilford Eugene Taylor, and together they shared the last twelve years. Her parents, and a sister, Velma Arlene Davis, preceded her in death. Dot is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; three sons, Edward Webster, Ronald Webster, and his wife, Diane, and Richard Webster, and his wife, Pam, all of Springfield, Missouri; her twin sister, Doris Hosiner, of Seymour, Missouri; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step-children, Ronald Taylor, and his wife, Tina, of Columbia, Missouri, Sandy Neely, and her husband, Kenneth, of Dadeville, Missouri, Donna Scharpf, and her husband, Robert, of Roanoke, Virginia, and Gregory Taylor, and his wife, Kathy, of Melbourne, Florida; ten step-grandchildren; eighteen step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Iowa, and then moved with her family to Seymour, Missouri in 1938. She graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1939. She then moved to Springfield in 1940. Besides being a devoted homemaker and a loving mother, Dortha also worked for the Horner Box Company, retired from General Electric in 1985, and was a licensed beautician for several years. Dot was a member of Mount Carmel Methodist Church and then transferred her membership to Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield. In her spare time she enjoyed bowling and fishing, and also enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed being a grandmother. Dortha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2006, in Asbury United Methodist Church, 1500 S. Campbell, Springfield, Missouri. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery with graveside services at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
