Dottie Baker's Obituary
ottie Snow Baker, daughter of Floyd Solomon and Pearl Etta Howell Snow, was born May 13, 1936, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in Center Point Medical Center, in Independence, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, nine months, and seven days. On April 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Wayne L. Baker and together they shared the last fifty-two years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lowell and Kenneth Snow; and a sister, Loretta Freeman. Dottie is survived by her loving husband, Wayne, of the home; two brothers, Ralph Snow, of Sisters, Oregon, and Floyd Snow, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri; three sisters, Shirley Brown, and Vernetta Jones, both of Lebanon, Missouri, and Margarette Griffin, of Conover, North Carolina; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised near the community of Orla, Missouri, and was graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1953. After she and Wayne were married, they made their home in the Kansas City area, where Dottie worked for the Kansas City Power and Light Company for over thirty years, retiring on June 30, 1994. Dottie made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life at the Orla Baptist Church. She was baptized in 1980, and attended Unity Village Chapel, near Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She and Wayne liked to travel and had made many wonderful vacation trips. She was an excellent cook and loved to entertain people in her home. Nothing was more important to her than her family and friends. Dottie was a loving wife, and a loyal and caring sister and aunt. She will be remembered for her unique and personal style, her eagerness to help anyone in need, and her devotion to her husband, family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Entombment will be in the Mount Rose Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
