Dottie Grimes' Obituary
Dottie Bell Grimes, daughter of Moses Sheridan and Clara Belle Young Higgins, was born June 16, 1923, near Macks Creek, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, February 13, 2007, in Christian Healthcare North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, seven months, and twenty-seven days. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Kenneth Perry; a great-granddaughter, Chelsea Ahmann; and three brothers, John, Paul, and Phil Higgins. Dottie is survived by a daughter, Millie Perry, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; two sons, Kenneth Appleberry, and Charles Timothy Grimes, both of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley Ross, and Hazel Ross, both of Buffalo, Missouri, and Lois Grimes, of Stoutland, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was raised in the Eldridge community and attended school there. She then made her home in Oregon, California, Nebraska and Oklahoma before returning to the Lebanon area in her later years. Throughout her life she had worked as a housekeeper for various families, in addition to being a devoted homemaker and mother. Dottie had attended Trinity Full Gospel Church in Eldridge, and the Wood Street and Taylor Avenue Full Gospel Churches in Lebanon. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers. She had a love for music and had even written a set of lyrics during her lifetime. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially taking care of “Butchie”. Dottie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to Trinity Full Gospel Churh in Eldridge may be made through the funeral home.
