Dottie King's Obituary
Dorothy Jewell King, daughter of William and Zella Mae Bryant Brents, was born July 3, 1940, in Cleveland, Arkansas. She departed this life Monday, January 4, 2010, in Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty-nine years, six months, and one day. On November 27, 1975, Dorothy was united in marriage to Wayne King and together they shared twenty-four years until Wayne’s passing on December 5, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Christine McKown, Faye Mullin, Claudia Van Gilder, and Charlene Kowell; two brothers, Marion Brents and an infant Joe Marion Brents. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Lisa Sims and husband Lonnie of Springfield, Missouri; a step-daughter Brenda Becker of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Clifford Lyons of New York, New York, Christopher Lyons of Springfield, Missouri, A.J. Sims and Megan Sims, both of Marshfield, Missouri; two step-grandchildren, Michael Glenn of Ozark, Missouri, and Tresa Glenn of Kansas City, Missouri; several step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Brents of Dexter, Missouri, and Bill Brents of Atkins, Arkansas; a sister, Dean Marcum of Murray, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and one great-great niece; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Dottie spent her younger years in the Dexter, Missouri area. After she and Wayne were married, they made their home in Springfield for one year before moving to Mansfield in 1976, where they made their home. Dottie attended the Mansfield First Assembly of God where she enjoyed worshiping and visiting with friends. She was an avid shopper and in her spare time loved to visit at local restaurants as well as the local Signal Convenience Store. Dottie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will treasure the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 6, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral home, Mansfield.Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until time of service under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
