Doug Yates (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Clair Douglas “Doug” Yates was born December 12, 1950 in Stroud, Oklahoma to Arley and Audrey Hurd Yates. He passed away in his home Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at the age of seventy-four years, two months and fourteen days.
Doug attended school in Oklahoma and early in his career, he was an over-the-road truck driver. He then was employed with Townsend Tree Service for several years before owning his own business, a flooring installation business.
On March 13, 1971, Doug was united in marriage to Edna Sing. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter and cherished memories.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Arley and Audrey; his brothers, Marshall and Bud Yates; and his sister, Edna Coryell.
He is survived by his wife, Edna; two daughters, Crystal Jones and her husband Travis and Audrey Rothwell and her husband Rick, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Brian Yates and his wife Natty of Grovespring, Missouri; five grandchildren, Shelby Rothwell, Sierra Jones, Ashlynn Hewitt, Carley Rothwell and Tyler Jones; five step-grandchildren, Bradly Farrow, Drew Ince, Daniel Ince, Ashley Dennis and Amber Hulsey; three sisters, Lavone Zupan, Martha Shane and Lavera Gregory; a special sister-in-law, Carol Yates; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Doug was a member of Oasis Worship Center and had rededicated his life while battling cancer. He knows it was God who healed him of cancer and gave him several months to live cancer free.
In his younger years, he and his dad would attend chicken fighting events. Doug also liked riding horses. He was a member of Crossroads and South Central organizations. His horses, Rowdy and Fireball, earned Doug many blue ribbons and trophies. His children enjoyed riding alongside their dad at numerous horse shows.
Doug loved and cherished his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a good and honorable man who trusted God, worked hard, and always tried to do the right thing. His passing is sad for his family and friends, but we rejoice in his homecoming where he is with his savior, his parents and other family members.
