Douglas Officer (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Douglas Earl Officer, son of James Earl and Mary Jo Hester Officer, was born July 19, 1960, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, July 9, 2018, in Banner University Medical Center, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of fifty-seven years, eleven months, and twenty days.
On September 5, 2014, he was united in marriage to Lourdes Lizette Carranza, and to this union one son was born.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eric and Josephine Hester; and his paternal grandparents, Elvin and Emma Officer.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Lizette, of the home; a son, James Douglas Officer, of the home; his parents, Jim and Mary Jo Officer, of Conway, Missouri; a sister, Ericka Officer, and her significant other, Michael Sweet, of Kansas City, Missouri; a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in the Phillipsburg and Conway areas and graduated from Conway High School. He then earned his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Missouri State University in Springfield. He moved to Arizona in 1984, and was employed by the University of Arizona in their Astronomy Department and was a field engineer. He worked at Safford and Mount Graham, Arizona where he built and maintained telescopes. He and Lizette had made their home in Tucson for the last few years.
He greatly enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activity was hunting deer and antelope. He had a jolly demeanor and always had a smile. He was a great storyteller and was very loving and kind. His family was extremely important to him and he especially loved his son.
Douglas was a loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, cousin, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
