Douglas E. Volcko (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Douglas Emerson Volcko of Bolivar, Missouri, aged 68, passed away on August 30, 2023, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. He was the husband of Debra Renee (Faulkner) Volcko and the two of them celebrated fifty years of marriage together on June 3, 2023. Doug was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 23, 1955, to John and Margie (Martin) Volcko. He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1972, where he was a tackle on the Liberator football squad. He later graduated from Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
After his marriage to Debra, Doug served his country as an Air Force airplane mechanic in California. He returned to Missouri and worked several businesses as an accountant, including the Southwest Missouri Office on Aging, Micro Magic, and Keeling Tax Service. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margie Volcko, his brother Wyatt Volcko, and his twin brothers Randall and Rodney Volcko. Doug is survived by his wife Debra of the home, son Steve Volcko and wife Traci and son John Volcko and wife Melissa. His grandchildren include McKenzie Slack and husband Jared and son Waylon; Sydney Volcko and Jeremy Crosswhite; Olivia Volcko, Dalton Forge and their son Bentley; and Samuel Volcko. Children of son John are Harley, Riley, Kinsley, and John Volcko Jr. Doug also had four step-children: Abby (Ashlock) Sawyer and husband Ethan; Allison Ashlock; and Hayden and Hannah Harper, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Doug and Debra were members of the Wellspring Baptist Fellowship in Bolivar. They made several missions trips to Haiti and worked as missionaries at a medical clinic in Alaska for three years. Doug enjoyed playing bridge with friends and board games with his family and doing woodworking projects. He is remembered for his love of the grandchildren and his contributions to family dinners, especially the Chinese food they all enjoyed on New Year’s Day.
