Doyle Scheets' Obituary
Doyle Dean Scheets, son of Loren Leslie and Flossie Alene Tracy Scheets, was born May 1, 1949, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, January 6, 2007, in his home, in Phillipsburg, Missouri, at the age of fifty-seven years, eight months, and five days. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Doyle is survived by two sons, Daniel Scheets, and his wife, Carrie, and Timothy Scheets, and his wife, Melissa, all of Kansas City, Kansas; a daughter, Kimberly White, and her husband, Bryon, of Kansas City, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Orion, Shelby, Zachary, Alexander, Mackenzie, Taylor, and Jewell; his parents, Flossie and Loren Scheets, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; two brothers, Wayne Scheets, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lynn Scheets, and his wife, Rena, of Davenport, Nebraska; two sisters, Helen Scheets, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Brenda Burns, and her companion, David Harris, of Cape Coral, Florida; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends, and his faithful companion, “Buddy”, his dog. He was born in Lebanon, Missouri, and was raised in Kansas City, Kansas, where he graduated from high school. As a young man he entered the United States Army, and served his country faithfully for over twenty years. He fought in the Vietnam War and was part of the Army Aviation Unit from Olathe, Kansas. After retiring from the military, he came back to the Lebanon area. He was very active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 4107, and was part of their honor guard program. He liked watching NASCAR races and football games, especially when his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, were playing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, and liked collecting all types of things. He was particularly fond of Ford Mustangs, and greatly enjoyed spending time with his special friend “Buddy”, his Mexican Chihuahua. Doyle was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments, and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in Veterans' Park in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials may be made through the funeral home.
