Dr. David R, Burd (Lebanon)'s Obituary
David R. Burd, son of Stanley G. and Ellen M. Parenteau Burd, was born October 15, 1979, in North Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, June 29, 2015, in his home, in Franklin, Massachusetts, at the age of thirty-five years, eight months, and fourteen days.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jerome F. and Lois S. Parenteau; and his paternal grandparents, Robert I. and Edna L. Burd.
David is survived by his father, Stanley Burd, and his wife, Doris, of Omaha, Nebraska; his mother, Ellen Burd, of Wichita, Kansas; a sister; a number of nieces and nephews; two step-brothers, Christopher Smithberg, and Jason Smithberg, both of Omaha, Nebraska; his girlfriend, Jennifer Sewell, of Franklin, Massachusetts; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and spent his early years in the Kansas City area and then moved with his father to the Lebanon, Missouri area. After graduating from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1998, he continued his education at the University of Missouri at Rolla where he earned his undergraduate degree as well as his Masters and his P.H.D. in Engineering. Upon completing his P.H.D. in 2011, David moved to Royal Oaks, Michigan where he worked for Free Field Technologies in Troy, Michigan, which soon became MSC Corporation. In 2014, he moved to Franklin, Massachusetts and began working as the director of engineering and technology for American Acoustical Products. David had written several articles and reports that were published in various business journals. He also had obtained several patents for engineering ideas he had created.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing with his dad and playing golf. He also liked playing the acoustical guitar and enjoyed heavy metal music. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed family gatherings.
David was a loving son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories they have of David and that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
