Dru Anne Baker (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Dru Baker, a woman whose hands were always busy and whose heart was always open, passed away on March 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Michigan on June 4, 1950, Dru’s early life took her across the United States, but she ultimately found her true roots and heart in Missouri. Dru was a cornerstone of her community, driven by a deep-seated desire to help others. In the early days of the Higbee Fire Department, she was instrumental in its foundation and growth. She had a servant’s heart, helping hundreds of children via Shriners Children's Hospital, and she remained a dedicated volunteer and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. To many, Dru was the woman who made magic happen with a needle and thread. Countless memories were made more beautiful because of her talent; proms, homecomings, and weddings across the region were graced by the custom dresses she meticulously crafted, while no newborn baby went without their own custom blanket. She was the beloved wife of Jim Baker, with whom she shared 54 beautiful years of marriage. Dru is survived by her husband, Jim Baker; her son, Brandon Baker & his wife, Heidi; her grandchildren, Dean, Bonnie, and Bradley Baker; and her siblings, sister Mary (Lee) Hall and brother Jim (Theresa) Emery. Dru was a valued friend to everyone she met. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and a reminder to fight hard for the things, and people, you love. She will be profoundly missed, the lives of those she touched will never be forgotten. Graveside service on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the Jacksonville Veteran’s Cemetery, Jacksonville MO, with a Celebration of life to follow at the Higbee MO Lion’s Club.
