Duane "Pete" N. Marty (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Duane Neal “Pete” Marty, son of Neal M. and Joyce Colden Marty, was born April 17, 1955, in Highland, Illinois. He departed this life Thursday, February 5, 2015, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, nine months, and eighteen days.
On November 15, 2008, he was united in marriage to Jeanne M. Dierks, and they shared the last six years.
His parents preceded him in death.
Pete, as he was called by his family and friends, is survived by his wife, Jeanne, of the home; a daughter, Meredith Ballay, and her husband, Chris, of Rogers, Arkansas; a son, Matt Marty, and his wife, Amber, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; a step-daughter, Liz Stoll, and her husband, Joe, of Phenix City, Alabama; a step-son, Chris Long, and his wife, Dani, of Haughton, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, Skyler, Chase, Savannah, Makenzee, Dakota, Christopher, Allison, and Emory; two brothers, Denny Marty, and his wife, Liz, of Springfield, Missouri, and Dave Marty, and his wife. Leslie, of Neosho, Missouri; two sisters, Dawn Bunch, and her husband, John, of Goodman, Missouri, and Debbie Turner, of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Neosho, Missouri, and graduated from Neosho High School. He worked for FAG Bearings in Joplin, Missouri, for a few years, and then began a career with Wal Mart. He continued with Wal Mart in managerial positions and worked at the Lebanon Wal Mart Store from 1988 until 1995. He eventually retired from Wal Mart after twenty-five years.
Pete was raised in the Baptist faith, and had recently joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Lebanon.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he liked fishing and hunting in his younger years. He also enjoyed watching wildlife. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Memorial donations may be made to the Children's Miracle Network or Lebanon Humane Society, and left at the funeral home.
Visitation will follow the service.
