Dwanza S. Dotson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Dwanza Sue Dotson, daughter of Leonard H. and Edith (Phillips) Reeves, was born April 26, 1949 in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life late Friday night, January 17, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was seventy-five years, eight months, and twenty-two days of age.
Dwanza was raised in Lebanon and graduated with honors from Lebanon High School in 1967. She had various jobs throughout her life, including H.D. Lee, Jafra Cosmetics, Family Pharmacy, a secretary at insurance agencies, and a para at Lebanon Junior High School, where she retired in 2014. As a para, she loved her students and took special interest in each one of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Duane M. Carr.
She is survived by her husband Douglas Dotson of the home; two daughters, Christi Carr Owens and her husband Trey of Suwanee, Georgia and Amber Owens and her husband Lee of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Cayden and Brinley Owens of Neosho, Missouri; and her brother Carl Reeves of Lebanon, Missouri; and other relatives and friends.
Dwanza was united in marriage to Douglas L. Dotson on July 1, 1976. Together they shared over forty-eight years of wonderful memories.
Dwanza was baptized into Christ on July 12, 1968.She loved God with all her heart and was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved her church family very much.
Dwanza was a wonderful cook and was known for her “banana cookie salad” (also known as banana pudding). She enjoyed making this for her loved ones and also made banana bread to share with friends and family.
Dwanza was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed her role as Grammy to her grandchildren and was Momma Dwanza to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. We have comfort in knowing she is at rest in Paradise.
Funeral service will be Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park.
A memorial to St. Jude's Children's Hospital has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
